Santorini offers a vast array of accommodation in numerous lodgings, because the island attracts thousands of visitors every year. If money is not a problem you can stay in luxury boutique hotels on the caldera in magnificent surroundings with amazing views overlooking the volcano. There are cave houses carved into the cliffs which have been converted into luxurious accommodations, hotels with all modern amenities as well as bed and breakfast, rooms and studios, luxury villas and apartments.
To the eastern side of the island there are many beach hotels in resorts like Kamari and Perissa, that also attract many tourists, mainly young people and families. These hotels usually offer larger rooms and pools than those on the other side of the island. Note that prices are determined by many hoteliers, according to the view of the room, which makes the hotels on the east side of Santorini much cheaper than those of the west side. Furthermore, keep in mind that booking your accommodation in advance would be very helpful, as Santorini doesn’t have huge resort hotels.
Generally Santorini is not an expensive island in terms of accommodation and only hotels overlooking the volcano have high prices but you can stay in Fira, Firostefani or Imerovigli and Oia especially in hotels with much cheaper prices overlooking the east side of the island, with basic accommodation and comfortable facilities and services. There are also two hostels on the island and three well equipped campsites. Many hotels and rooms owners provide free suttle services from the port and airport.
